Biosorption of Precious Metals Present at Dilute Concentrations on Fungal Pellets

Biosorption on fungal pellets constitutes a promising way of removing precious metals, which are often present at dilute concentrations in wastewater. Herein, we studied the Ag and Au biosorption by Aspergillus tabacinus Cladosporium cladosporioides pellets. For A. optimum pH values for were 5 4, respectively, while C. granules, best-suited 3 respectively. kinetics both metals also low adsorbate (1 mg/L) mentioned above, contact times that allow maximum recovery two defined. At estimated as optimum, adsorbed greater amounts than pellets, opposite occurred. We found pseudo-second-order model adequately represents under conditions tested. Due to growing demand limited availability these their from aqueous residual solutions is economically attractive desirable expanding circular economy scheme.
